Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to White Bat Games’ new blog!  We’ve got some exciting new projects coming up which I’ll be telling you about soon.

I’m Neil.  I most recently was the lead programmer on the Nintendo title Art Academy, which at the time of writing is number 5 in the UK charts, and also charted in Japan at number 3 when it was released.  Being a fan of their games for years, working with Nintendo was an amazing experience and something I’m sure to talk about in future posts.

The Games Industry is not a ‘normal’ working environment.  It’s volatile, with companies going bust and forming continuously.  It’s full of interesting characters and strange ideas and products.  Some of them are total write-offs, others are complete genius.  Often, you won’t know which it is until it’s released!

Living in the UK as I do, I am very proud of this country’s rich history of game development.  In the 90s the UK punched way above it’s weight and produced countless big hits.  Sadly, things are not what they were, but there are still plenty of games studios producing games large and small accross the country, and the amount of talent available here is huge.
